All pieces can be cleaned with warm soapy water. To prevent tarnish, keep silver pieces in a cool, dry place, preferably airtight. Tarnish can be removed with a standard silver polishing cloth, available from most hardware stores and large supermarkets.
Glass Pieces
For all jewellery items containing set glass cabochons extra care must be taken. I polish the glass to a satin finish in order that it doesn't show up scratches compared to a mirror polish but I advice not to wear pieces in situations that could cause chipping, especially for rings. For example, gardening, playing the spoons, making jewellery, backslapping ferocious gorgons, etc...
I work in silver and sometimes gold. I use recycled metal whenever I can. The cabochons are mostly glass with some semi precious stones. The glass I use is blown flashed glass or a blown plate (rondel). The glass has 1-3 layers of colour which has been incorporated within the hot process of glassblowing. This is not the same as enamel and it is much more durable. However, it can still chip so care must be taken when wearing.
I can usually polish out small chips in the glass so please contact me if your piece needs some TLC.
